J is a hoot. On Friday night, he and I had the house to ourselves. E was attending a scout overnight campout while the girls were dancing with their Dad at the 50's dance for activity day girls. He declared that we should also have a date. I agreed. I asked him what he had in mind. He looked ever so thoughtful and then proclaimed, "Let's play Clue Jr. for our date." After he won the first game (by one roll of the die) we played another. I asked what else he wanted to do and suggested we go out for a special dessert treat. His response was this, "Well, if we eat something like ice cream at home, then we can have more time to play games here. Let's eat ice cream and play Sorry for our date." He is just too adorable.
I laugh because he and I are together every weekday morning before he attends afternoon kindergarten. (On preschool days, we do have 6 other students come to the house so I guess we aren't alone every morning). And, usually he and I have a game night when the older siblings attend youth activities or activity girl meetings. Even though we did some of the same things we do on the other days/nights he kept referring to this night as 'our date.' He'd say, "For our date, let's play..."
The idea that the girls were on a date with Dad made this a date with Mom. What a sweetheart.
