Sooo proud of this guy. Although he isn't 16 yet, he is already working (some weeks full-time) as a lifeguard at the community pool. E signed up for the early am shift, which means no sleeping in this summer. It's even earlier than seminary!
In preparation for the job, he attended a Red Cross Lifeguard Certification class over the Christmas holiday break. In order to enroll in the class, prospective students have to pass a few swimming requirements (500 meter swim, timed 5lb brick swim test, and treading water). The classes were intensive training in first aid and rescue techniques. After passing the written exam, students were eligible to interview for positions.
We knew his interview went well when he received a phone call a few days later asking him to come in to fill out paperwork! Yay!! Following another round of intense and physical swim tests, there were those who didn't make the cut. E did awesome. He began working at the end of the school year and has been busy ever since.
The funny thing is he didn't realize he already had a paycheck waiting for him.
He had two paychecks ready to cash. Woo-hoo!!
