This past weekend no one, except Dad, had anything on their schedule. It was kinda' nice to be free of appointments, parties, or games. Dad had some meetings, work, & studying to catch up on. When he has a lot of studying to do, I ask him to go to the library because I can't not talk to him when he's home. I will go in the room where he's studying just to grab something and inadvertently begin telling him about my day at preschool, or who I ran into at Smith's. Knowing I might not be able to keep the kids or I quiet gave us a good excuse to go on a little weekend vacation. We had a good time and might make it a more regular occurrence. Hmm, when does Dad have midterms?
We played Lasertag. Luckily our group only included one other set of young kids. It was a first for J & K. As such, K stuck by my side. I felt like her personal shield. I would get zapped by some unknown player and then she would zap them in return. What a team! J was his usual fearless self. I could hear him playfully screaming, followed by a laugh, when he saw someone. He stayed near E. M hung out near K & I but would venture out to find targets and then return to us. J wanted to spend the whole day playing.
Being on vacation also gave us an excuse to eat out and grab the kids meals. We never do that at home. >wink<
After lunch we found a letterbox.
The park where the letterbox was located had two large rockclimbing playgrounds.
Because he must learn things the hard way, E looked for the most challenging way to the top.
It took him more than 8 tries and 20 minutes to climb to the summit. Each climb, he would get a little higher. He'd jump down and then study the rock to see where his next handhold would be. He was sweating like a dog when he was done, but oh so proud.
Making time for an evening swim.
