We Got a Pool!

After years of enduring endlessly hot summer days with the temperature reaching 110 degrees, we (or really Mom) decided to buy a pool.  Mom had set aside some money that would've been used for season passes at the "new waterpark."  Unfortunately, Splash Canyon is delayed another year and is not set to open until Summer 2013. Bummer.  :(  So, instead of water park passes, we settled for an above ground pool.
First, J and Mom had to dig up and cap off two sprinkler heads.  That was a piece of cake compared to assembling the pool. The directions weren't kidding when it stated, "more than one person required for setup."  The older kids and I pushed, hammered, and shouted at the grommets that are used to hold the poles together.  The holes in the poles have to be lined up just right.  Whew!

Since the pool took so long to assemble, we didn't start filling the pool until late evening.  By midnight, the pool was only half full. When Dad woke up early to study on Thursday morning he turned the hose back on.

The pool was ready for swimming when the kiddos were done with school! Yay.

This post would not be complete without giving credit to Tiffany and Dan. I called them repeatedly (a million times) with questions regarding setup, filters, chlorine, salt water systems, grommets, etc.  They've had an above ground pool for years and have become our resident expert for all our pool concerns.  Thank you Tiffany and Dan!
