Not Too Extreme Home Makeover

This is the best "before" picture....
We finally decided to replace the carpet.  (Yes, I am embarrassed by the following picture which shows the nice plush BEIGE carpet under the area my couch carefully protected surrounded by the BROWN matted carpet that was known as my family room. Sigh)

With every home project there are always opportunities to lend a hand.
Since we were replacing almost the entire downstairs, we had 160 feet of baseboard to paint.

After they ripped up the carpet, the kiddos left their autographs on the concrete.

Hmm, what's that doing over there? Yes, we removed the fireplace.  While I know many of you are going to groan and say, "I've always wanted a fireplace.", we decided it just wasn't working for us.  We had a contractor rip apart the wall and extract the fireplace.

He then built us a new wall.  After painting the new wall, some of the more 'picky' children noticed some spots we had missed.  This paved the way for more opportunities to serve.  It's awesome to have something to do in the summer right when you hop out of bed!

This picture was snapped moments before our entertainment center arrived. Doesn't the new flooring & baseboards look beautiful? The laminate flooring extends to the kitchen, dining room, and walkway in the front room.  Yay!

Ta-daaah!
This is the finished product.  Now we just need to find something to put on the shelves and a new spot to hang our family portrait.
