Our Kindergartner started the festivities with the adorable Thanksgiving costumes he created early in the week.
This year we hosted & cooked a Thanksgiving Feast of our own for our family, my sisters family, my Mom & several of my Aunts. Here we are...your Thanksgiving cooks. The kids favorite was the sweet potatoes. Most of my aunts & I favored the orange cranberries.
My Mom and Aunty Edna arrived on Monday. My (twin) sister and her family of four drove for two days from Midland, Texas. (They towed their camping trailer, which turned into a great man cave for the boys. The younger girls worked on table decor while the boys hung out in the trailer.) I couldn't wait for them to arrive on Tuesday. On Wednesday, we picked Aunty Liz up from the airport. My Aunts and Mom flew in from Hawaii to tackle most of their Christmas shopping on Black Friday. Late on Thanksgiving night, Aunty Vanessa and her family of four also flew in from Hawaii to join the shopping fest.
After we rested from our Thanksgiving feast we ventured out for some ice skating. There were only a couple of other families there so sometimes it seemed as if we had the rink to ourselves.
On Saturday after the aunts were shopped out, we met at Cafe Rio for dinner and then spent the evening playing with the cousins. Cousin Kea also plays the cello. She & E had a great time playing around on the cello together.
It was a sad day when the cousins had to return home. Living away from family can be tough sometimes. On the bright side, it makes us fill each moment with good memories. We will remember this Thanksgiving with happy thoughts.
