J has been a 49er's fan for a few years now. In Kindergarten when the class had a homework assignment to 'disguise a turkey' so that it wouldn't be eaten for Thanksgiving, he dressed his turkey as San Francisco 49er quarterback, Steve Young.
As a result, he was pretty excited when he found out 'his team' would be in the Superbowl! (E's team, the Patriots, almost made it.) He has been proudly sporting his Colin Kaepernick tee & casually taking his football wherever he goes.
The beginning of the game tortured J a bit as they lost a few touchdowns to the Ravens. We were hopeful in the second half when the 49ers seemed to gain some momentum when the lights came back on. During the fourth quarter we sat on the edge of our seats crossing our fingers for a touchdown that just wasn't meant to be. Even though they didn't win, we had a good time eating our Superbowl goodies and cheering them on. Maybe next year will be his year.
(Disclaimer to Grandpa...although we don't normally watch tv on Sundays, we make an exception for the Superbowl.)
