E has been working on his Eagle Scout service project for over a month now and is just about done with the first phase. In a nutshell, he is collecting 1,500 gently used books to benefit, Spread The Word Nevada. Spread the Word Nevada gives local underprivileged elementary students books each month so that they may start their own at home library. This past week, Spread the Word Nevada adopted their 30th elementary school. At the adoption, after students are given 2 brand new books they choose 3 gently used books to take home. A news crew was at the school, capturing the excitement. E is in a few of the scenes, passing out the new books as well as recommending books from the 'gently used' table. What an experience. The second phase of his project will be getting the books ready to be distributed....wiping down the covers, removing stickers, blacking out previous owners' names, etc.
