These are all the parts for K's reindeer that she cut.
More about her reindeer in a bit.
The younger two have been wanting to try the "Create" idea from the September 2013 issue of the Family Fun Magazine. During both Christmas and Easter holiday break, they asked if they could make the sock critters. Sadly, I was overwhelmed with things to do and put it off. Now that they are out of school, with more free time on our hands, it was one of the first things we did.
They each took a turn sewing the legs & arms. Then we cut & stuffed the limbs with batting. The hardest part came when we had to sew the faces. Other than the face, the whole thing came together rather quickly.
K became quite the little seamstress. She decided she liked it so much that she sewed two sock bunny critters. J started his second critter but hasn't finished it yet. He let K take over the sewing.
After making the sock bunnies, we took a trip to Hobby Lobby to buy a pattern and some fabric so she could craft a stuffed animal from scratch. She chose to make a reindeer and spent a long time pinning the pattern to cut all the pieces. That's where the first picture on this blog post comes from. She did it all by herself! The next day, she got busy sewing (& stuffing). The end result is pretty darn cute.
