Fishing

Our fishing expedition didn't go as smoothly as we anticipated.  (No fish biting at the lake). So after an hour of waiting around and a lot of good practice casting the line, we decided to head back.

The younger two re-energized with some lunch and decided to try again at Sunset Park. There were tons of minnows! This gave them hope since they could actually see the fish. They began casting and watching as the minnows playfully bit their bait.  Finally, their patience paid off. K caught one! We took a picture and threw it back.  Later, J found a spot where the fish were jumping out of the water. He was able to catch a fish with his net by scooping it up as they jumped.  He repeated this two more times for a total of three fish. Clever!

By the way, children younger than 12 do NOT need a fishing license. We drove to Arizona because we wanted to participate in Arizona Free Fishing Day (to avoid buying a junior fishing license). It was when we realized that J & K didn't need a license to fish, that we decided to try again at Sunset Park.  Now we know!
