Taking the day off

The elementary school aged children didn't have school on Wednesday due to Parent Teacher conferences.  Yippee!  So, we pulled E out of middle school for the day to take a family skication. It was worth it.  We had the slopes to ourselves, no waiting at the lift, & J received a private lesson for a group price (since there weren't any other kids in his group)!

J's instructor showed us the 'troll house.'  (top left) He told J to ski quietly and quickly past the house so the troll wouldn't wake up. What did J do? He ski's up to the house, stops, and then yells at the troll to come out.  Then...J takes off down the hill.  :)
We would play a game on the lift with 'Chair 22'.  Based on our current chair we'd guess when Chair 22 was going to pass by.  It helped pass the idle time while hanging in the air.

Here is a picture of our four children racing down the mountain with Mom in hot pursuit. Not a bad picture considering I am skiing at the same time!

We took a break for lunch.  While waiting for J to come down a run we snapped a quick picture.  It sure looks empty without him. (bottom right)

The girls

At the end of the day, the boys found large blocks of snow to construct a snow fort. When Dad came down to say hello in between runs, they showed him no mercy. He was pelted with snowballs while they stayed behind the safety of their snow fort.
