Boulder Beach

We decided to spend our first day of track break checking out our local 'beach.' We've lived here for five years and have never ventured to the 'beach' at Lake Mead. It went so well, we bought an annual pass for $20 so that we could visit the 'beach' more often. Although, it wasn't like the beaches we are used to...sand under our toes, the smell of seaweed, and beautiful clear (warm) water, it will do.

Because we didn't know what to expect, the kids were not properly dressed for the occassion. I thought, we would just walk the shoreline looking for shells. I had heard the shore was rocky so I told the kids to wears socks and shoes. The rocks did not deter the kids from getting in the water. We waded in the cool water searching for shells. There were quite a few! They loved it and made the most out of our little afternoon. We skipped stones, tried to build small sand buildings, and gathered shells. At times there were small waves that begged to be jumped. The kids willingly hopped the waves while giggling. Next time, we know to wear water shoes or slippers, bring the sand toys, and wear shorts! We all had to roll up our pants to wade in the water. They were all such good sports about walking on the rocks in their bare feet.
