The good news is, thanks to youtube, I successfully fixed our washing machine(more specifically cleaned out the washer drain pump). On the youtube video the entire process was completed in 2 minutes. It took me two hours.
The bad news is, in order to take out the screws to remove the kickpanel to access the drain pump, I broke the washer machine drain pan. Since our laundry room is on the second floor, the washer sits in a white tray as a way to prevent a flood in case of an emergency washer machine failure. I couldn't quite lift the washer over the pan so it was smashed in the process.
After a quick phone call to my Dad and another trip to Home Depot to buy the correct drill piece, we were back in business. Although my Dad will be happy I am wearing safety glasses, he will not be happy that I am wearing flip flops. :(
Here is the new installed drain pan waiting for Shane to come home to help lift the washer machine back into place. :)
